MESOC depicts social issues through performance

by Nicole Rigayen

The Management Economics Society (MESOC) won the CSS (College of Social Sciences) performance competition as part of the Culmination Night at the CSS Courtyard, March 6.

MESOC member Anngelica Asinas said, “Yung performance namin (Our performance) is entitled ‘Talo Tayo’ wherein we showcased what the state of the nation is with the current government.”

Asinas also added that the overall theme of their performance was the ‘clownery’ of the Philippine elections as the election season is approaching.

She explained that most people hold on a false hope about change in our society despite the fact that some politicians use dirty tricks and the existence of ignorant people.

They ended their performance leaving a message that the power of choosing who will be seated or who will be given the authority is always in our hands.

MESOC’s performance was in line with the CSS Week’s theme,”Konsensya ng Bayan, Pag-aralan ang Lipunan, Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan.”

“‘Pag-aralan ang Lipunan,’ kinakailangan ang pag-aanalisa ng mga kongkretong pangangailangan ayon sa konkretong kalagayan; ‘Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan,’ putting those theory into work,” CSS Representative Gabriel Siscar explained.

(‘Study society,’ there is a need in examining the needs [of the society] based on the situation. ‘Serve the nation,’ putting those theories into work.)

Other organizations that also participated were Integrated Students in Psychology (ISIP), UP Kamalayan, UPB Philosophy Circle, and Politically Inclined Students (POLIS).
